Karot Hydropower Station in Pakistan, built by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), completed the static and dynamic load test for the bridge to its spillway control section on September 11, an important milestone as it indicates that the dam crest of the spillway control section is ready for operation.
The bridge has a national standard design load rating of Grade-I, with a total of six spans and a total road width of 6.7m including the width of the top of the gantry crane. Factory-like production and prefabricated construction were adopted for the bridge of the spillway control section, ensuring energy conservation, environmental protection, speed and safety.
The bridge is Karot Hydropower Station’s permanent main road and the only link between the two banks of the spillway after the dam begins impoundment. Therefore, it is instrumental for the subsequent transportation and construction of equipment and materials to and from the site.
