Three Gorges Reservoir replenished more than 12 billion cubic meters of water to the lower reaches of Yangtze River

Between November 26, 2017 and April 19, 2018, the water level of Three Gorges Reservoir was reduced to 162 meters. A total of 12 billion cubic meters of water was replenished to the lower reaches for the benefit of shipping and ecosystem. Since water discharge was initiated during dry season, the overall water level of Three Gorges Reservoir has been reduced by 12.74 meters.

In the coming two months, Three Gorges Reservoir will continue to replenish water to the lower reaches and it is estimated that more than 10 billion cubic meters of water will be supplied. The Three Gorges Cascade Dispatching and Communication Center will keep track of real-time weather in the Yangtze River basin to provide forecast of water conditions, optimize power dispatching and allow buffer in reservoir capacity for the flood season.
