China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) announced that its Baihetan hydropower station has hit 20 billion kWh in cumulative electricity generation as of 12:59 on February 17, equivalent to saving a total of over 6.24 million tons of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by over 41 million tons, contributing to green development.
Baihetan is designed to install a total of 16 1-GW hydraulic generators, the world’s largest in terms of capacity for a single unit. Once in full operation by July, it will deliver an annual output of 62.443 billion kWh.
