Baihetan hydropower plant, owned and operated by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), completed hoisting the runner of unit 4 hydraulic generator on March 4, the seventh of its 1GW hydraulic generators to have installed the runner, indicating the installation of the first power units on the left and right bank have now finished.
Baihetan hydropower plant will have 16 generators, each with a capacity of 1 GW, the world’s largest single unit. Upon commissioning, it will be the world’s second-largest power station after the Three Gorges Dam.
Baihetan hydropower plant is scheduled to commission the first batch of units by July 1, 2021 and the remaining units by July 2022.
