CTG donates medical supplies to Madagascar to fight COVID-19 pandemic

China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) has continued its efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic by making a sizable donation to Madagascar through its subsidiary China International Water & Electric Corp. (CWE).

A plane loaded with nearly 60,000 medical supplies such as masks, protective garments and goggles, landed in Madagascar at the end of July to help the country fight the pandemic. The supplies, which were donated by CEW, have been transferred to Madagascar’s COVID-19 Operational Command Center and Ministry of Water, Energy and Hydrocarbons.

Since the pandemic spread across the globe, the African island country has faced serious challenges. CWE has lent a hand to the country in its time of need by providing critical medical supplies despite difficulties in logistics and communication, further deepening the relationship between China, Madagascar’s government and its people.

Following the emergence of COVID-19 cases in the country in early March, Madagascar in late March declared a national Public Health Emergency, which has been extended 10 times consecutively and still remains in place.
