China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) announced that the H8-2 offshore wind farm in Dafeng, Jiangsu Province, funded and constructed by its alternative energy arm China Three Gorges Renewables (Group) Co., has gone into full operation on December 25. The project is contracted by Shanghai Investigation, Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. (“SIDRI”).
Over 80 kilometers away from the shore at most, it features the furthest offshore distance in China. It has a total installed capacity of 300 MW. The project marks the first application of offshore high-resistance station in China, which can compensate for reactive power loss and curb terminal over-voltage level under low load conditions. Thus, this can improve power generation efficiency, and ensure efficient and stable long-distance transmission of offshore wind power. It innovatively deploys a 500 kV centralized control center with the largest voltage level for offshore wind power in China, and advances the application of domestic equipment such as GIS and voltage transformers.
