CTG releases Belt & Road Sustainability Report

China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG) recently released the "CTG’s Sustainability Report under the Belt and Road Initiative ", the first sustainability report of the group’s overseas business.

Lei Mingshan, Chairman of CTG, said in the preface of the report that CTG will continue to participate in high-quality, high-standard and high-level energy cooperation in the Belt and Road initiative. The company will work with all stakeholders to push for open and inclusive cooperative partnerships that could commit themselves to developing sustainable energy, building a better world and benefitting people along the route.

The report showed that CTG has deeply integrated itself into the global clean energy value chain in its overseas business, contributing “CTG Wisdom” and “China Solutions” to the hydropower industry around the world. 

Six hydropower projects built by CTG, including the Kinkon Hydropower Station and the Kaleta Hydroelectric Power Plant in Guinea, the Nam Leuk Hydropower Project in Laos, as well as the Merowe Dam, the Roseires Dam, and the Upper Atbara and Setit Dam Complex in Sudan, have been featured as the background images for the banknotes issued by the three hosting countries respectively. 

By the end of 2018, CTG has footprints in 47 overseas countries and regions, boasting a total installed capacity of 17 million kilowatts. The group’s total accumulative power generation in overseas countries hit 100 billion kilowatt hours last year. 

In addition, more than two thirds of the world’s 700,000-kilowatt hydroelectric generating units were built, operated or managed by CTG, making it the largest hydropower developer in the world and a leading clean energy builder and supplier along the “Belt and Road”.
