The throughput of the Three Gorges Dam shiplock reached a new high at 144 million tons in 2019 as of December 25, smashing the previous record of 142 million tons in 2018.
The shiplock operated 10,508 times in 2019, handing 42,747 ships and 13,063 passengers. Since operation in 2003, the shiplock has been running safely and efficiently for 16 years, with a cumulative throughput of 1.4 billion tons.
