Baihetan hydropower station, owned by China Three Gorges Corporation (CTG), announced that it has finished installation of the runner for its No. 13 power unit on March 25, followed by the successful hoisting of the rotor of No.4 power unit on the left bank of the station one day later.
The runner is one of the most sophisticated components of the hydraulic generator in terms of the challenges in research and development as well as manufacturing, while the rotor for the No.4 power unit is the heaviest core component.
Baihetan hydropower station is designed to install a total of 16 one-gigawatt hydraulic generators. The 1-GW hydraulic generator, the world’s largest in terms of capacity for a single unit, is hailed as the Mount Everest of global hydropower industry.
