Peru’s San Gaban III Project Receives Its First Cash Infusion

On December 22, 2017, Hydro Global Peru S.A.C. announced financial closing for the San Gaban III Project after receiving the first cash loan of USD 95 million from China Development Bank.

San Gaban III Project is Hydro Global Peru’s first greenfield project since its establish-ment, and is Peru’s first power project in which a Chinese company has invested in . With an installed capacity of 209.3MW, the hydropower plant is expected to generate 1,252 GWh of electricity annually. Construction began on September 1, 2017, with a scheduled construction period of 48 months. The project will bring energy collaboration between China and Peru to a new level. It will also ease energy shortage in southeast-ern Peru, driving social and economic progress within the region. The project is ex-pected to reduce 338,000 tons of carbon emissions and other waste every year, contrib-uting substantially to environmental protection.
