CGN Hongyanhe Nuclear Power wins Mayor Quality Award

Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Co Ltd (Hongyanhe Nuclear Power) recently won the 2017 Dalian Mayor Quality Award, becoming the only power supplier in Dalian city with that honor.

Hongyanhe Nuclear Power, partly invested by China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), was the first nuclear power plant constructed in Northeast China. The award was given to recognize its scientific, systematic, excellent and applicable management.

The Mayor Quality Award is a top honor granted by the Dalian municipal government to those organizations that have made outstanding achievements in quality management, economic development and social benefit. The award inspires and encourages enterprises to develop efficiency and aims to improve product and service quality and organizational management. The award, thanks to its standardized operations and professionalized evaluation, has been widely recognized by all sectors of society.

The evaluation experts of the Dalian Mayor Quality Award made a field investigation at Hongyanhe Nuclear Power from April 24 to 26, 2017 and commented that “Liaoning Hongyanhe Nuclear Power Co Ltd has advantages in nuclear safety culture, nuclear safety management, personnel training, operation management and equipment reliability control”.

Hongyanhe Nuclear Power’s performance was outstanding in 2017. It achieved on-grid power generation of 21.86 billion kilowatt-hours, accounting for 65 percent of the annual electricity need in Dalian. In addition to supplying abundant and stable power, the plant also achieved energy conservation and emission reduction. The on-grid power generation is equivalent to reduction of coal consumption by 6.76 million tons and carbon dioxide emissions by 17.66 million tons. The beneficial results of greenhouse gas reduction were equivalent to the absorbing capacity of a 50,000 hectare forest, and helped reduce the PM2.5 concentration in Dalian by 11.6 percent. 

Hongyanhe Nuclear Power will continue to prioritize safety controls and provide economical and environmentally-friendly electric power for the general public.
