CGN’s Yangjiang-3 Completed First Fuel Loading

On September 11, 2015, at 20:30, the last batch of fuel assemblies for Unit 3 of Yangjiang NPP were loaded in the reactor core.At 23:22, the photographic inspection of the reactor core showed that the core situation is consistent with the fuel loading design diagram, marking that the first fuel loading for Unit 3 of Yangjiang NPP was finished.

From 3:05 on September 9 that the first batch of fuel assemblies were loaded in the core successfully to the last fuel assemblies loading and accomplishment of core photographical inspection, the unit was maintained at stable refueling cold outage state during the entire loading process, and the boron concentration of primary loop and core neutron flux monitoring results were all normal.

Since completing the hot function test for Unit 3, all parties worked closely and tried their best toward fuel loading. In the meantime, the project team has overcome numerous construction obstacles, including three wastes system and reactor cavity water injection.

The completion of the first fuel loading for Unit 3 makes a critical step toward its commercial operation.
