CGN’s Yangjiang Unit 4 completes hot functional test

Unit 4 of Yangjiang nuclear power plant (NPP), owned by China General Nuclear Group (CGN), completed its hot functional test on Sept 23.

The testing is a general rehearsal ahead of loading nuclear fuel into unit 4, where the unit is conducting a system test in different states at actual operational temperature, pressure and flow.

During the hot functional test, unit 4 is consistently under a controllable state at each stage, and some large-scale tests, including the power switchover test, have already been completed in a timely fashion by the joint efforts of the member companies involved. Meanwhile, the CGN CPR1000 unit has succeeded in the non-nuclear steam run-up test for the first time.

The company is ready for further construction, in order to reach the goals of fuel loading, criticality, grid connection and commercial operation on a phase-wise basis.
