China's First Home-grown Nuclear-grade Paperless Recorder is released in Shanghai

Recently, the China Instrument and Control Society (CIS) held an home-grown nuclear-grade paperless recorder product launch conference in Shanghai. This recorder is jointly developed by Shanghai CGN Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Shanghai Technology” and Chongqing Chuanyi Automation Co., Ltd., which represents another important achievement in the self-reliance and localization of nuclear power equipment in China, and adds new member to the FirmSys Product Family.

As a display and recording equipment for important safety parameters after an accident in a nuclear power plant, the nuclear-grade paperless recorder of a nuclear power plant plays a vital role in the safety of nuclear power plants. For equipment that undertakes nuclear-grade functions, its software validation process and qualification test are complex, and the qualification involves environmental, electromagnetic, seismic and other indicators, and the performance requirements of the equipment are much higher than those of non-nuclear-grade equipment, which is a great challenge for equipment design, research and development and verification.

At the end of 2019, on the basis of the long-term wide application of industrial paperless recorder achieved by Chongqing Chuanyi Automation Co., Ltd., Shanghai Technology and Chongqing Chuanyi Automation Co., Ltd. strictly followed the special performance, qualification parameters, and in-service unit transformation needs of nuclear power, and completed research and development in 2 years. In the process, it has gone through 5 versions, carried out 3 rounds of closed-loop verification, verified and closed 232 abnormalities, executed and passed the qualification test of major nuclear power plants in China, and obtained unanimous approval from experts. This recorder demonstrates excellent performance, and at the same time it has high standards and strict requirements in software V&V and qualification, fully meets the class-B software requirements of SIL3 level and IEC 62138-2018 as specified in IEEE 1012-2004 Standard, and meets the design and modification requirements of nuclear power plants under construction and in service.
