China Energy Joins NTPS Innovation Alliance

The New-Type Power System (NTPS) Innovation Alliance, initiated by the State Grid Corporation of China and comprised of 31 enterprises, universities and social organizations including China Energy, was officially inaugurated in Beijing on April 22. The establishment of the alliance is vital to promoting China’s NTPS construction, enhancing high-level self-reliance and independence in power technology development, and advancing the high-quality development of the energy industry.

Liu Guoyue, president of China Energy, noted that since its reorganization in 2017, China Energy has regarded technological innovation as the primary driving force for the corporation’s high-quality development. Upholding open cooperation, joint research and coordinated innovation, it has carried out a number of national major scientific research projects including large-scale wind/solar complementary hydrogen production and carbon capture, utilization and storage, and deployed many key technological research projects such as coal-fired power plant staggered operation and flexible reconstruction, new-type virtual power plants, and wind/solar/coal-fired power integrated energy system. It has vigorously explored digital, iterative development of power systems and expanded the application of hydrogen energy in power generation and storage and manufacturing, with focus on making breakthroughs in a wide range of key and core technologies in the field of NTPS, so as to build a source of original technologies and a modern industrial chain.

The Framework of Major NTPS Technology Joint Innovation (draft) was released at the inauguration ceremony, alongside the signing of agreements on the first batch of four cooperation projects. Besides, China Energy Institute of Economics and Technology, State Grid Energy Institute Co., Ltd., and North China Electric Power University signed the Cooperation Agreement on NTPS Research.
