China Energy Fujian Branch’s Luoyuan Bay Project (Phase I) Begins Commercial Operation

The No.2 generation unit of the Luoyuan Bay (Luoyuanwan) Project of the Fujian branch of China Energy completed a 168-hour full-load trial operation on April 26, which proved that the generation unit reached or surpassed the designed criteria in terms of environmental and economic indexes. This marked that the two ultra-supercritical 1GW coal-fired power generation units of the Luoyuan Bay Project (Phase I) have officially begun commercial operation.

As China’s first 1GW coal-fired power generation unit energy conservation and emission reduction pilot project ratified by the National Energy Administration and a key engineering project in Fujian Province, the Luoyuan Bay Project features the world’s first two-in-one frequency conversion technology and other 20-plus world or nation-leading integrated technologies such as 100% high-voltage bypass with built-in safety valves and fast load rejection with 100% heat consumption rate. With outstanding performance and efficiency, the two generation units are good examples of China’s clean, high-efficiency, low-carbon, flexible, safe and intelligent coal-fired generation units, playing a pioneering and exemplary role in technological innovation in the energy industry.

After the two generation units were put into operation, the Luoyuan Bay Project can generate 8 billion kWh of electricity each year. It is expected to significantly enhance the company’s integrated capacities in power generation and energy supply and effectively improve the supply reliability of the regional grid, thus guaranteeing stable energy support for Fujian in the coming summer—the peak time of electricity consumption in the year.
