CEC Held a Lecture on "Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality: Concept, Path and Implement Requirements "

April 20, 2022 /CEC/ - On April 18, 2022, China Electricity Council (CEC) held a Lecture on "Carbon Peak and Carbon Neutrality: Concept, Path and Implement Requirements". Wang Zhixuan, the Deputy Director of CEC Expert Committee was invited to be the lecturer. Yang Kun, the Executive President as well as the management team of CEC attended the Lecture, which was conducted in the hybrid way of “on site plus online". This Lecture was open to the Member Units for synchronous live broadcasting, and the number of the live viewers exceeded 1200.

In the Lecture, Wang Zhixuan mainly introduced the framework, concept and latest situation of the international climate change governance system, and deeply interpreted the path and overall requirements for China to achieve the goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality. 

He pointed out that to promote the green and low-carbon transformation of energy, build the modern energy system and to achieve the nation’s goals of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, the power industry should implement the new development concept, build the new development pattern and adhere to the systematic concept throughout the whole process of "Dual Carbon". Moreover, the power industry should also had a proper balance between the economic development and the emission reduction, between the overall and the local demands, between the long-term and the short-term plan, between the government controlling and the market mechanism.
