China Longyuan Power Attains Approval for a Wind Power Expansion Project in Urumuqi

On July 25, the Xinjiang branch of China Longyuan Power Group under China Energy Investment Corporation attained the official reply of approval for a 90.3 MW capacity expansion project at its No.2 wind farm in the Dabancheng District of Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

With a total designed capacity of 90.3 MW, the technological upgrading project consists of 13 wind turbines with a unit capacity of 6.25 MW each and six wind turbines with a single unit capacity of 1.5 MW, which will be installed to replace 155 old wind turbines. When put into operation, the new wind turbines are expected to generate 350 million kWh a year on average, operating 3,885 hours per year. It can help save 107,000 tons of standard coal and reduce emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide by 292,000 tons, 562,000 tons and 629,000 tons respectively. The project is of great economic and social benefit, as it will improve energy structure and boost sustainable development of local power system.
