In the first half of 2022, Wuhai Energy Group built a national and a company-level demonstration intelligent mines, completed China Energy’s first 5G-based communication system covering the whole mine, and deployed 10 robots for unmanned monitoring on 95 fixed positions in 34 subsidiary systems. The company has been exploring the application of intelligent technologies to achieve safe, eco-friendly and high-efficiency transformation and upgrade.

An Information Map for Real-time Management

Wuhai Energy Group applies cutting-edge technologies including the Internet of Things (IoT), big data, cloud computing and mobile internet to build a platform for intelligent analysis. The platform provides real-time information about the production and operation of coal mines, safety supervision, personnel positioning, and video monitoring. After intelligent analysis and warnings according to the connection between the various types of data, the platform can generate a “map” for visual management, showing the production, operation and management of the coal mines and bringing the company’s management to an era of connectivity and artificial intelligence (AI).

Based on the “map,” the company has built AI image recognition management platforms for 10-plus scenarios, 40 locations and seven subsidiary mines. Intelligent cameras are installed at high-risk locations to monitor any risky moves of people and unsafe status of objects and send alarm signals, forming an effective intelligent safety management system alongside relevant equipment, systems and notification mechanisms.

The 5G+XR intelligent mine solution deploys the XR cloud computing technologies and the 5G intelligent terminals for real-time connectivity, saving the labor of mine workers. It also provides the first-perspective two-way video communication service, enabling real-time sharing of expert instruction at operation sites.
