China Energy Fujian Branch’s First Public Utility Terminal Begins Operation

On June 30, the Fujian branch of China Energy signed a contract with Tianjin Port Co., Ltd. to carry out professional cooperation on the three-berth terminal at Kemen in Luoyuanwan area of Fuzhou Port, marking that the company’s first public utility terminal began operation.

The terminal, located in Lianjiang County, Fujian Province, enjoys a favorable location at a deep-water natural port, which can allow 300,000-ton bulkers to moor in all weathers. Besides, it is capable to accommodate 400,000-ton bulk freighters, with a designed annual throughput capacity of 26.68 million tons. The terminal is the first project implemented under the industrial development cooperation framework agreement signed between China Energy and the provincial government of Fujian. The No.1 and No.2 berths were put into use on April 19 this year, and the No.3 berth is expected to be completed and begin operation in September.

Based on China Energy’s “integrated operation” strategy, the professional, collaborated operation of this terminal will make better use of its port subsidiaries’ strengths, inject vigor into the scarce coastline resources in southeastern China, and further enhance its coal storage capacity and integrated operation efficiency. Besides, this is conducive to expanding public-private partnerships, improving the project’s profiting capacity and assets utilization efficiency, and advancing China Energy’s innovative development in its first public utility terminal in Fujian, thus laying a solid foundation for building a first-class intelligent, green port.
