Shenhua Jiujiang Corporation Obtains Approval for Phase 2 Expansion

On August 12, Shenhua Jiujiang Power Corporation, a Jiangxi-based subsidiary of China Energy Investment Corporation (China Energy), obtained the approval from Jiangxi Development and Reform Commission for the second phase of 2×1000-MW Expansion Project.

Costing the lowest for coal transportation in the province, the project is a major project of the company’s efforts to implement the 14th Five-Year Plan. It is significant for the company to improve the structure of generators, accelerate green and low-carbon transformation and enhance its core competitiveness.

The project aims to build the most advanced and the best coupled intelligent power plants and to create a new benchmark for the green coal power. It adopts ultra-supercritical (USC) reheat coal-fired generation units with a designed standard coal consumption of 255.1 g/kWh and a general thermal efficiency of 55.25 percent in the whole plant, which is higher than the index level of similar projects that have been put into operation.

The company invested 7.45 billion yuan to build ultra-low emission environmental protection facilities, including flue gas desulfurization, denitrification, and dust removal equipment, to meet the requirements for deep-load changing, advanced energy efficiency and ultra-low emission. The project will better meet the growing demand for electricity in the economic and social development of Jiangxi Province, and promote the green and high-quality development of the place as a renowned revolutionary base.
