China Huaneng Group Completed the First International Green Certificate Transaction of Renewable Energy

On August 30th, Huaneng Gansu Jiuquan Wind Power Company completed the international green certificate transaction with Singapore Tuas Power Retail Company, a subsidiary of Huaneng Power International Inc., with a turnover of 10,000 green certificates, equal to 10 GWh of electricity. It is the first international green certificate sale of renewable energy for China Huaneng Group.

Based on Huaneng Guazhou Ganhekou North 50MW demonstration project for grid parity of wind power, Huaneng Gansu Jiuquan Wind Power Company and Singapore Tuas Power Retail Company carried out innovative cooperation. Singapore Tuas Power Retail Company completed the sale of international green certificate as a broker and signed the green certificate sale agreement of foreign renewable energy. The completion of this sale provides important reference for future green certificate transaction, and blazes a new trail in improving quality and efficiency.

As a certificate of environmental rights and interests, green certificate is an internationally recognized standard of renewable energy consumption record. Since the purchase of green certificate could facilitate the independent achievement of carbon neutrality goals for power consumption enterprises, it is increasingly recognized by enterprises at home and abroad.
