CHN Energy Kicked Off Effort to Guarantee Energy Supply in the Demand Peak in Pending Winter

On October 18, CHN Energy held a conference to start the effort to guarantee energy supply as the demand peak is approaching alongside the winter. The corporation will do it utmost to ensure energy supply for residents in this winter and early spring next year by fully implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s instructions on safeguarding energy security, the decisions and arrangements made by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the State Council on guaranteeing energy supply and the CHN Energy Work Plan for Guaranteeing Energy Supply in the Demand Peak in Pending Winter (hereinafter the “Work Plan”).

According to the Work Plan, CHN Energy will uphold the principles of “prioritizing people’s livelihood, highlighting energy supply organization, fulfilling commitments according to rules and contracts, and strengthening coordinated command”, formulate emergency response plans, arrange designated shifts, and determine evaluation indicators. It will spare no effort to guarantee people’s livelihood by ensuring energy production, supply, and stock, thus fulfilling its commitments to the country and the people.

CHN Energy will give full play to its core advantages in coal, electricity, highways, ports and shipping, and organize coal production and sale, logistics, transportation, power generation, heat supply, among others, in a rational manner. Its coal-producing subsidiaries will do their best to stabilize and increase production, thus completing the task of increasing production and supply in the fourth quarter of this year. Its coal-selling subsidiaries will fulfill energy supply contracts according to relevant terms, strictly control local sales and spot goods sales, and carry out national pricing policies to the letter. They will fulfill relevant mid-term and long-term contracts in accordance with terms on volume, price, and quality, and pay close attention to and fulfill contracts concerning the needs of people’s livelihood such as coal for heat supply and chemical fertilizer production. Its electricity-generating subsidiaries will make full use of their capacity to ensure power supply, and avoid any occurrence of heat supply hiatus due to blackouts. Its transportation and shipping subsidiaries will fully tap into their potential to transport more goods. Its chemical production subsidiaries will enhance quality and efficiency in terms of safe production. The entire corporation will make all-out efforts to guarantee energy supply, paying a solid foundation for the people to spend a comfortable winter.

So far, 10 units of the eight power plants under CHN Energy have begun to supply heat. The coal stock of power-generating enterprises that undertake heat supply tasks can guarantee 20 days of use.
