Dadu River Hydropower’s Monthly Power Generation in Normal-flow Period Surpassed that of High-water Period for the First Time

By October 31, Dadu River Hydropower Development Co., Ltd. (“Dadu River Hydropower” for short) under CHN Energy generated 6.588 billion kWh of electricity in the first month of the normal-flow period this year, a year-on-year increase of 15.93%. This was the first time that the company’s monthly power generation surpassed that of the high-water period, laying a solid foundation for the company to meet surging demand in the upcoming winter peak season.

In the fourth quarter, Dadu River Hydropower strove to grasp the year’s last window period brought by the autumnal flood season in western China. It coordinated and communicated with the province’s power grid to strive for preferential power generation policies. Moreover, it paid close attention to changes of the electric power market inside and outside the province and took an active part in monthly directly-purchased power and spot transactions to seek more power generation quotas. Dadu River Hydropower has also formulated and improved its weekly and daily power generation plans to vigorously advance the power generation process. It strove to give full play to the capacity of all the hydropower stations, ensuring the effective implantation of their power generation plans. Moreover, the company kept a close eye on water from the upstream and the water levels of reservoirs, and adjusted power generation strategies in a timely manner. Based on the characteristics of the transition from high-water period to normal-flow period, it strove to generate more electricity in the early period and optimized economical operations in the late period. Efforts were also made to precisely control the water levels of all reservoirs, optimize water resource management, and enhance hydro-energy utilization efficiency. Leveraging intelligent scheduling based on meteorological and river information, Dadu River Hydropower accurately grasped the trends of water flow in the river basin and has completed the yearly water storage task of the Pubugou and Houziyan regulatory reservoirs through blocking and storing water in the autumnal flood season. Meanwhile, all hydropower stations in the river basin have achieved a new high in power generation compared to the same period of previous years, realizing satisfying results in both electricity generation and water storage.
