Longyuan Power’s Alxa Wind/Solar-to-Hydrogen Project Approved

On January 3, the 600MW wind-solar integrated hydrogen and ammonia infrastructure low-carbon industrial park demonstration project launched by the Inner Mongolia branch of China Longyuan Power Group Co., Ltd. (“Longyuan Power” for short), a subsidiary of CHN Energy, in Alxa High-tech Development Zone was approved. This is the first hydrogen production project using green power launched by CHN Energy in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025).

Located in Alxa Left Banner of Alxa League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the project has a planned capacity of 600MW, including 400MW wind power and 200MW photovoltaic power. When completed, it will achieve 2,980 equivalent utilization hours of wind power and 1,750 equivalent utilization hours of photovoltaic power per year. It is estimated that the project will generate electricity of more than 1.54 billion kWh, save 45,600 tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 88,300 tons each year. Moreover, it will be able to annually produce 140,000 tons of hydrogen and ammonia using green power. Compared to traditional ammonia generation methods, it can save 154,000 tons of standard coal and cut carbon dioxide emissions by 321,160 tons per year, which is of great significance for optimizing the local energy structure and improving the ecosystem.
