Dadu River Company’s 6.47GW Hydropower Projects Included in Carbon Peaking Action Plan

On January 28, construction of the Dadu River hydropower base under CHN Energy was included in Sichuan Province’s action plan for carbon peaking in the energy sector. As part of the base, Dadu River Company’s hydropower projects with a total installed capacity of 6.47GW as well as the hydropower-wind-solar integrated renewable energy development base in the middle and upper reaches of the Dadu River Basin were incorporated in the plan.

The action plan was jointly released by the Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission and the Sichuan Provincial Energy Administration. As per the plan, Dadu River Company will focus on the development and construction of nine hydropower stations along the trunk stream of the Dadu River, namely, Shuangjiangkou, Jinchuan, Danba, Anning, Badi, Laoyingyan (first-cascade), Laoyingyan (second-cascade), Zhentouba (second-cascade), and Shaping (first-cascade), with a total installed capacity of 6.47GW, in an effort to convert the ample hydropower resources into clean energy. In addition, the company will accelerate the construction of the hydropower-wind-solar integrated renewable energy development base in the middle and upper reaches of the Dadu River and improve the construction of the hydropower base of the “three rivers” (namely, the Dadu, Jinsha and Yalong rivers), so as to enrich the development modes in the Dadu River Basin and contribute to the realization of the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.

So far, Daduhe Company has put into operation hydropower stations with a total installed capacity of 11,338MW in Sichuan, accounting for one-fourth of the province’s total hydropower installed capacity under the main grid’s unified dispatching. The company is a key energy enterprise that guarantees the grid’s safe, stable operations.
