In January 2023, CHN Energy overfulfilled its targets in terms of self-produced coal volume, commercial coal resource volume, electricity generation volume, railway transport volume, port coal shipping volume, vessel cargo shipping volume, chemicals production volume and sales volume, achieving a good start for this year. Since October 2021, its monthly self-produced coal volume has stayed above 50 million tons for 16 consecutive months, and its monthly self-produced coal volume and commercial coal sales volume both hit a record high during the Spring Festival period. It generated electricity of 12.5 billion kWh using new energy, a year-on-year increase of 48.7%, which set a new record in monthly power generation.
In face of multiple challenges such as policy changes, growing internal and external demand, and cold currents in northern China, CHN Energy made all-out efforts to guarantee energy supply and stabilize energy prices. During the Spring Festival period, its 73 coal mines continued operations instead of suspending for holiday to meet energy demand of social development. Compared to the Spring Festival period of last year, its electricity generation volume and heat supply volume increased by 8.4% and 13.3%, respectively. Several of its subsidiaries hit a record high in heat supply, ensuring people enjoyed a warm winter and a happy Chinese New Year.
In January, coal companies of CHN Energy maintained steady production, and produced 52.35 million tons of coal in total. CHN Energy also continued to enhance the quantity and quality of Xinjiang-produced coal that are transported to other parts of China. It also strengthened coal importing and procurement to mend up resource supply gaps, and completed commercial coal resource volume of 63.49 million tons. Its power plants operated at full capacity to increase electricity generation volume and efficiency, and generated electricity of 92.6 billion kWh in total. Through rational organization and high-efficiency coordination, its transport companies completed railway transport volumes totaling 46.61 million tons. Its two ports shipped 20.65 million tons of coal, and completed vessel cargo shipping volume of 19.2 million tons. Keeping a close eye on market demand, its chemical companies performed well in both production and sales, achieving chemicals production of 2.54 million tons and sales volume of 1.5 million tons.
