On March 22, the New Energy Technology Research Institute of CHN Energy achieved key breakthroughs in the research of molten salt energy storage projects by coupling the molten salt energy storage system with coal-fired power plants and completing the demonstration of the technical plan of thermal power decoupling and deep peak shaving in the coal power industry for the first time. The achievement was recognized and supported by the Anhui Provincial Energy Administration.
Molten salt energy storage technology is one of the new energy storage technologies encouraged by the state. Compared with other energy storage technologies, it is more suitable for the needs of large-scale energy storage. This is the first time that the New Energy Technology Research Institute conducted in-depth research and design on the coupling of molten salt energy storage system and coal-fired power generation units. In the process of research, the institute independently built a large-scale coal power pump-molten salt energy storage analysis model, carried out energy consumption, thermal efficiency, peak shaving capacity and economy analysis for the deep peak shaving process, formulated corresponding system operation and variable working condition control strategies, and used the steam extracted from generation units as the heat source of the molten salt energy storage system and the molten salt heat release system as an auxiliary steam source for external industrial steam supply. It achieved deep coupling between large-scale molten salt energy storage technology and coal-fired power generation units.
The New Energy Technology Research Institute of CHN Energy has continuously promoted the research of molten salt energy storage projects for deep peak shaving of large-scale coal-fired power generation units, and conducted plan argumentation for large-scale safe and reliable molten salt energy storage technology coupled with coal-fired power plants, so as to provide new ideas for improving the performance of coal-fired cogeneration units in peak shaving, frequency regulation and peak load.
